One fine day, or maybe a night
Near a lake, I'd fallen asleep
When suddenly, seeming to tear the sky apart
Slowly, wings unfurled
Slowly, I watched him circle
Close to me, in a rustle of wings
As if fallen from the sky
His eyes were ruby-colored
And feathers the color of night
On his brow blazing with a thousand fires
With his beak he touched my cheek
Into my hand he slid his neck
That's when I recognized him
Say bird, oh say, take me away
Let's go back to the land of long ago
Like before, in my childhood dreams
To pick, trembling
Like before, in my childhood dreams
Like before, on a white cloud
Like before, to light the sun
The black eagle, in a rustle of wings
Took flight to climb back to the sky
One fine day, or maybe a night
Near a lake, I'd fallen asleep
When suddenly, seeming to tear the sky apart
One fine day, or was it a night
Near a lake, I'd fallen asleep
When suddenly, seeming to tear the sky apart
