SONG MEANING

Un Gourmand d’Amour is Cloetim’s playful confession that she has always been hungry for love. From the very first verse she paints herself as someone “different,” someone whose mother will gladly testify that even before birth she was already craving affection. Instead of treating this craving as a flaw, Cloetim turns it into her super-power: a boundless appetite for smiles, tenderness, and the spontaneous joy that lights up the present moment.

The chorus becomes a warm invitation: “Il faut s’aimer… et se le dire” – we must love, love, love and say it out loud. By promising “Je vais t’aimer” if the listener wishes, the singer flips the usual search for approval into a generous offer of comfort. Between lines about dodging blinding “phare” headlights (the pressures and show-offs of everyday life) and teaching others how to savor “l’instant présent,” Cloetim delivers an upbeat lesson in self-acceptance: cherish who you are, share that affection freely, and never apologize for being a true “gourmand d’amour.”
