SONG MEANING

“Notre Devoir” (Our Duty) is Intik’s rhythmic rallying cry that turns reggae-flavoured hip-hop into a call for unity. With a looping chorus that repeats “Notre devoir c’est de se réunir” (“Our duty is to come together”), the Algerian artist urges everyone to drop old grudges, lay issues on the table, and grab each other’s hands. She reminds us that thinking for ourselves, keeping our reason, and widening our vision are the tools that push any community to the top.

In the second half, Intik turns up the urgency: the state divides people to control them, and the last train toward a fair future is about to leave. Arabs, Blacks, beurs—all the oppressed—must rise together, let rebellion blossom, and move forward before it is “now or never.” The song mixes optimism with a sharp warning: united we progress, divided we tear ourselves apart.
