ondaswaves

Ondas literally translates to "waves". While a common word, IZA uses it in a beautifully poetic way that makes it stand out in this song.

She sings, "O meu amor é todo seu, e vem em ondas" (My love is all yours, and it comes in waves). This metaphor creates a powerful image of love as an unstoppable, all-encompassing force, like the ocean tide. It’s a memorable line that showcases the creative beauty of the Portuguese language.

“Eu E Você” is a warm Brazilian love note wrapped in smooth R&B and soul. IZA and Jota.pê trade verses like affectionate text messages, each confessing how much they miss the other’s smile, lips and energy. The repeated hook “Eu e você” (You and me) works like a heartbeat, reminding us that every thought circles back to their shared connection. The imagery of love arriving “in waves” paints a summery picture of the coast, hinting at music you would play while waiting for someone special to show up at the beach.

At its core, the song is about saudade—that uniquely Portuguese-Brazilian feeling of sweet longing. Yet it is far from sad. The groove is upbeat, inviting the listener to dance, jump and celebrate the certainty that the reunion is coming soon. It is a sonic hug promising that when two hearts are tuned to the same melody, distance is only temporary.

IZA is one of Brazil's biggest pop and R&B stars, celebrated for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Born Isabela Cristina Correia de Lima Lima in Rio de Janeiro in 1990, she first built a following by posting covers of artists like Beyoncé, Rihanna and Sam Smith on YouTube. She signed with Warner Music Brasil in 2016, and her 2018 debut album Dona de Mim earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Portuguese Language Contemporary Pop Album.

In 2022 she made history as the first Black Brazilian solo singer to headline the main stage at Rock in Rio, and she released her second album Afrodhit in 2023. Blending pop, R&B and Brazilian rhythms, IZA has become a leading voice in contemporary Brazilian music and a celebrated symbol of Black representation in the country's mainstream.
