contraluz — backlight

Contraluz literally translates to "backlight" or "against the light." It's a specific photographic term that describes when the light source is behind the subject, often creating a silhouette or a halo effect.

In the song, Marc Segui uses it metaphorically when he sings, "Como una foto a contraluz," comparing his unclear understanding of the relationship to a photo taken against the light. This evokes a sense of obscured vision and difficulty in seeing things clearly, making it a unique and evocative word choice.

Have you ever imagined a whole movie in your head about a relationship, only for it to end suddenly? In "Al Menos Ahora," Marc Segui sings about this exact feeling. He looks back on a love where he was completely invested, believing he'd spend his life with this person. The reality, however, was a painful lesson. He realizes that passion alone isn't enough to sustain a relationship, singing that "one couldn't live off of kissing you" (de comerte la boca no se podĂa vivir).

The song's title, which means "At Least Now," points to the silver lining after the heartbreak. The singer admits he learned the hard way (a base de palos aprendĂ), but he's found a sense of relief. He'd rather be sad on his own than miserable in a toxic relationship. At least now, he's no longer spending all his time worrying about her instead of himself, finally breaking free from a love that was never good for him.
