infielunfaithful

Infiel translates to "unfaithful" or "cheater". It's a very direct and emotionally charged word that immediately sets the tone for the song's themes of betrayal and heartbreak.

In the context of this song, it's not just a descriptive term; it's an accusation and a central theme. The song explores the consequences of infidelity from multiple perspectives, making infiel a powerful and memorable word that drives the narrative.

This track pairs two of Marília Mendonça's songs about infidelity, sung back to back live.

"Infiel" is the confrontation: she catches her partner cheating, throws his bags out the door, and warns him that the woman he betrayed her for will get the same treatment from him eventually. It is angry and direct, with no room left for excuses.

"Amante Não Tem Lar" flips the point of view to the other woman in an affair. She admits she got pulled into someone else's family, but realizes a mistress never gets a real home, a wedding, or honest love, only the price of being someone's secret.

Marília Mendonça was a Brazilian singer and songwriter from Cristianópolis, in the state of Goiás. Born in 1995, she started writing songs as a child and launched her recording career in 2014, quickly becoming one of the biggest names in sertanejo music.

She was known as the Queen of Sofrência, the heartbreak-driven side of sertanejo, and helped lead the feminejo movement of women artists in a genre long dominated by men. Her powerful voice and honest lyrics about love and longing turned her into a superstar across Brazil. Marília died in a plane crash in November 2021 at just 26 years old, and she is still celebrated as one of the country's most beloved voices.
