abrigoshelter / refuge

Abrigo literally means "shelter" or "refuge." It's a beautiful and comforting word that evokes a sense of safety and warmth.

In the song "Meu Abrigo" (My Shelter), the word is central to the theme of finding solace and comfort in a loved one. The lyrics describe the partner's lap (colo) as the singer's abrigo, highlighting the deep emotional security and peace they find in their relationship.

Meu Abrigo is a musical love letter painted with sun-kissed colors. Over gentle acoustic grooves, Melim invites us on an imaginary trip where the ticket includes "o sol, a lua e o mar." The siblings list everything delightful they want to share: ocean breezes, sunset games, starlit dances, and even flowers for Iemanjá, the Afro-Brazilian sea goddess. Each image feels like a postcard from a perfect beach holiday, yet the true destination is emotional rather than geographical.

At the heart of the song lies a simple message: real paradise is found in the arms of the one you love. The chorus repeats that the beloved is "a razão da minha felicidade" and "meu abrigo"—a safe place that outshines any idyllic backdrop. By blending tropical scenery, playful melodies, and affectionate Portuguese, Meu Abrigo reminds listeners that laughter, peace, and joy become infinite when shared with a soulmate.

Melim is a Brazilian pop trio made up of siblings Rodrigo, Gabriela, and Diogo Melim, twins Rodrigo and Diogo plus their younger sister Gabi, all born and raised in Niterói, in Rio de Janeiro state.

The group came together in 2015 and reached a national audience the following year as semifinalists on the Brazilian television competition "Superstar." Their self-titled debut album followed in 2018, filled with warm, acoustic-driven pop songs the three siblings wrote themselves.

Melim became known across Brazil for feel-good hits like "Meu Abrigo," "Ouvi Dizer," and "Gelo," blending pop melodies with gentle Brazilian singer-songwriter harmonies. That hopeful, easygoing spirit runs through their catalogue, wrapping simple wishes for peace and kindness in a breezy sound.
