ansiedad — anxiety / eagerness

Ansiedad most commonly translates to "anxiety" in English, referring to a feeling of worry or nervousness. However, in Spanish, it can also convey a strong sense of eagerness or intense longing.

In Thalia's song "Sangre," the word is used in this latter, more passionate sense. When she sings "llevas en la sangre ansiedad por abrazarme" (you carry in your blood an eagerness to embrace me), it speaks to a deep, almost primal desire and longing, rather than a negative feeling of worry. This dual meaning makes it a compelling word to explore.

"Sangre" is ThalĂa's tribute to someone she loved and lost. The song opens with quiet memories, phrases inside a song, moments and recollections built from love, and moves into a direct address to someone whose hands used to cover her heart.

The chorus turns that memory into a promise: she carries this person in her blood, aching to hold them again, unable to let them go, and willing to love them until she dies. "Mi héroe abrió las alas, voló" (my hero opened his wings and flew) makes the loss explicit, framing their absence as flight rather than an ending, leaving behind pieces of soul and sparks of magic from a love she calls eternal.

The song closes on acceptance rather than despair: the world wasn't big enough for a love like this, so she looks ahead, promising to love them for the rest of her life and to stay close to them, "junto a ti," until the very end.
