Rusowsky is the stage name of Ruslan Mediavilla, a Spanish singer, songwriter and producer born in 1999 in Valladolid and raised in the Madrid area. He grew up in a musical family of Belarusian descent, started at his mother's music school at the age of four, and went on to study piano at a conservatory. The name comes from his nickname Rus and the character Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.
He began self-releasing tracks in 2019 and quickly became one of the most in-demand producers and collaborators in Spain's new alternative scene. His music sits somewhere between bedroom pop, R&B and electronic production, with Latin rhythms threaded through it, and it tends toward the melancholy: love, heartbreak, loneliness and a lot of introspection.
He signed to Warner Records in 2024 and released his debut album Daisy in 2025, which went to number one in Spain. For learners, his lyrics are a good way into everyday, informal Spanish, and he switches into English often enough that the two languages sit side by side.
