Jilgueros Lyrics in English La Raíz

Below, I translated the lyrics of the song Jilgueros by La Raíz from Spanish to English.
Verse 1
I have money because I buy voters
I have money because I buy the mayor
Of the scavengers I am the first
I have money but I am miserable
And make impossible contracts possible
To have airports, statues, sphinxes
I am a cacique, a pimp, and friendly
I have money but I am miserable
Chorus 1
In my pocket there's a beautiful boat, cocktails in the pool
And the gel of flaky men, gorgeous breasts in the office
My pocket feeds the smartest birds in the sky
Vultures, goldfinches, now the money flies
Verse 2
I have everything because I have bosses that I
Lick their a*s because I earn double money
High-ranking officials that give me a hand
I have money but I am miserable
Illusionist, I make the capital appear
I'm a complete artist
Given what's been seen
I split and hand out the loot
Like the smart ones
Chorus 2
In my pocket there's a beautiful boat, cocktails in the pool
And the gel of flaky men, gorgeous breasts in the office
My pocket feeds the smartest birds in the sky
Vultures, goldfinches, now the money flies
Let whoever wants to be a hunter aim at the sky
Catch the thief on the fly
Let whoever wants to be a hunter aim at the sky
Of vultures and of goldfinches
In the streets they ask why
They can't live without feeling that
Money is a poison that rots
And makes us sadder
We are the children of fear
Sewn to the strings of a puppeteer
Let's be honest
Your luxury is my ruin
Either you die or I die
In my pocket there's a beautiful boat, cocktails in the pool
And the gel of flaky men, gorgeous breasts in the office
My pocket feeds the smartest birds in the sky
Vultures, goldfinches, now the money flies
Let whoever wants to be a hunter aim at the sky
Catch the thief on the fly
Let whoever wants to be a hunter aim at the sky
Of vultures and of goldfinches
Let whoever wants to be a hunter aim at the sky
Catch the thief on the fly
Let whoever wants to be a hunter aim at the sky
Hunting all over the world
Hunter
Catch the thief on the fly
Hunter
Of vultures and of goldfinches
Hunter
Catch the thief on the fly
Hunter
Hunting all over the world
Hunter
Catch the thief on the fly

SONG MEANING

Picture a corrupt tycoon bragging in broken English about buying mayors, building useless airports, and stocking his pockets with yachts and cocktail parties. That is the voice La Raíz adopts in “Jilgueros,” a sarcastic carnival where the singer pretends to be the ultimate big shot. While he shows off his money, he also admits he is “miserable,” exposing the emptiness behind all that glitter. Around him circle two kinds of birds: buitres (vultures) that feast on carrion and jilgueros (goldfinches) often kept as pretty pets. Both symbolize the people who profit from corruption or get trapped by it.

The chorus flips the script, calling listeners to aim at the sky and catch these birds mid-flight – in other words, to hunt down the thieves. Beneath the satirical swagger runs a serious warning: money is a poison that rots society, turning ordinary citizens into puppets. Your luxury becomes my ruin. Either you fall or I do. With pounding drums and urgent horns, La Raíz invites us to unmask the vultures, free the goldfinches, and refuse a system where greed spreads its wings over everyone.
