Enamórate De Alguien Más Lyrics in English by Morat

Reemplázame is the command form of the verb reemplazar, and it literally means "Replace me". It's a powerful and dramatic word that you won't hear every day.

In this heartbreaking song, the singer is so incapable of getting over his ex that he begs her to find someone new. It's a selfless yet desperate plea, hoping that seeing her with someone else will finally give him the closure he can't find on his own.

Have you ever tried to move on from someone, only to realize you are completely useless at doing it on your own? That is the exact mess Morat unpacks in this catchy folk pop track. The singer tries putting himself first for once with the line "por fin hoy pienso en mí" [finally today I think of myself], but immediately admits he cannot let go. He keeps treating the breakup like a brief intermission instead of the end of the story ("no fue un final / Sino un alto en el cuento" [it wasn't an end / but a pause in the story]). The Spanish phrase "darte por perdida" literally means "to give you up for lost," and it describes that stubborn refusal to accept that someone is truly gone from your life.

His desperate, backwards solution to the problem is hilarious and painful at the same time: he begs his ex to do the hard emotional work for him. In the chorus, he practically pleads, "enamórate de alguien más / Reemplázame que no soy capaz" [fall in love with someone else / replace me because I'm not capable]. He asks her to ignore him and literally give him a reason to hate her ("Dame una excusa para odiarte" [Give me an excuse to hate you]) because holding onto "un recuerdo amable" [a kind memory] of her voice is making it impossible to move forward.
