Dj Husky is a Chilean producer and DJ who has become one of the busiest names in modern bachata. He grew up between South America and Barcelona, Spain, where he studied music production, and he now builds bachata and Latin dance tracks aimed squarely at the dance floor.

His trademark is the sensual, radio ready side of the genre: warm guitars, patient percussion, and a vocalist left to carry the heartbreak. On ALMA he hands that job to Montelier, a Cuban singer songwriter from Trinidad, Cuba, now based in Zurich, Switzerland, who is known for folding modern pop into traditional bachata. Producer Dimelo Cupido completes the collaboration, and gets his own shout out in the middle of the song.

CONTENTS SUMMARY
ALMA (SOUL)
What bad luck
Not being strong enough
To get it into my head that you're not here
No, it's not enough

Chilean producer DJ Husky teams up with Montelier for "ALMA", a smooth bachata track about putting on a brave face while secretly falling apart. The singer admits that he is simply not strong enough to accept that his ex is gone, calling it "mala suerte" [bad luck]. Even though people say time heals everything, he feels completely defenseless: "No tengo armas para enfrentarte" [I have no weapons to face you] because this past love felt "sobrenatural" [supernatural]. Notice how he uses "pa'" instead of "para" in "pa' olvidar" [to forget], which is the everyday, casual shortcut you will hear in spoken Spanish everywhere.

The real punch comes in the chorus. He tells his ex that even if friends say they have never seen him crying, it is all an act: "Que sepas que aún sueño contigo / Que todavía te ando buscando" [Know that I still dream of you / That I'm still searching for you]. He even admits he has already forgotten what her hugs feel like. Whenever someone brings up her name, he forces a smile for the crowd, "pero con el alma hecha pedazos" [but with my soul broken into pieces]. It is honest, dramatic, and great for learning how to talk about hidden heartache.

Insomnio (Insomnia)
Otra noche sin ti
Otra noche bebiendo solo
¿dónde fue que perdí
El orgullo para sentir que quiero hablarte
Another night without you
another night drinking alone
where was it that I lost
the pride to feel that I want to talk to you

The narrator spends the whole song losing an argument with his own phone. He is drinking alone again, and the reason he gives himself for not calling is pride: "¿dónde fue que perdí / El orgullo para sentir que quiero hablarte" ("where was it that I lost / the pride to feel that I want to talk to you"). He loses it anyway. He goes out to forget her, gets drunk, dances with someone else, and then reports all of it straight back to her: "te mando un audio solo pa' contarte" ("I send you a voice note just to tell you").

The title is the punchline. Sleeping would mean dreaming about her, so he stops sleeping: "Y ya no duermo para no soñarte / que con tu partida me provocaste insomnio" ("And I don't sleep anymore so I won't dream of you / because with your leaving you gave me insomnia"). She is barely present in her own breakup song. "Apagando tu luz y celular" ("Turning off your light and your phone") is the only thing she does across all thirty-eight lines, and it is what leaves him awake.

DRAMA (Drama)
Que extraño fue, no volverte a ver
Pero esta vez, ya perdí la fe
Como palabras en el viento
Se fue muriendo el sentimiento
How strange it was, never seeing you again
But this time, I've already lost faith
Like words in the wind
The feeling slowly died away

"Y en el pentagrama / Melodía y drama en su fin" (And on the music staff / melody and drama at their end) is the hook, and it lands because "pentagrama" and "drama" rhyme hard enough to turn a breakup into a piece of sheet music that simply ran out of bars. Charles Luis sings it over DJ Husky's bachata guitar, so the ending arrives sounding almost pleasant.

The verses are colder than bachata usually goes. "Fuimos extraños en la cama y así" (We were strangers in bed, and just like that) skips the shouting entirely and starts at the part where two people have stopped recognising each other, and "Se fue el amor por la ventana" (Love went out the window) is delivered like a fact about the weather. Then the bridge turns generous for four lines: "Vas a estar bien / Seguiré de pie" (You are going to be fine / I will still be standing). He is almost certainly lying about the second half.

ALMA (Dusza)

Choć przy znajomych trzyma fason i nie daje po sobie poznać łez, nocami wciąż śni o byłej miłości i próbuje przypomnieć sobie dotyk jej rąk, rzucając bezradne „Ya se me olvidó / Cómo se sienten tus abrazos” (Już zapomniałem / Jakie to uczucie być w twoich ramionach).

Tekst świetnie pokazuje walkę z samym sobą. Zamiast udawać, że czas leczy rany od razu, wykonawca przyznaje: „No tengo armas para enfrentarte” (Nie mam broni, by stawić ci czoła).

Nebýt dost silný na to
Vtlouct si do hlavy, že tu nejsi
Ne, nestačí to

V hovorové španělštině si všimni zkráceného pa' místo para v řádku „Si yo lo he intentado todo pa' olvidar“ (Když už jsem zkusil všechno, abych zapomněl), což v textech uslyšíš neustále. Uprostřed tracku navíc Montelier odlehčí atmosféru klasickou bachatovou vsuvkou, kde vyvolává bůžka lásky: „Dímelo Cupido“ (Pověz mi to, Kupide).

Chileläisen Dj Huskyn ja Montelierin bachata "ALMA" iskee suoraan siihen tuttuun tilanteeseen, kun yrität esittää kavereille kaiken olevan okei, vaikka todellisuus on aivan toinen. Laulaja myöntää heti alussa oman heikkoutensa: "Qué mala suerte, no ser tan fuerte" (Mikä huono tuuri, etten ole tarpeeksi vahva).

Espanjan ilmaisu hecha pedazos tarkoittaa kirjaimellisesti 'tehty palasiksi' eli täysin pirstaleina.

Şilili Dj Husky ile Montelier'i buluşturan "ALMA", dışarıya karşı güçlü görünmeye çalışırken içeride paramparça olan birinin hislerine odaklanan bir bachata parçası.

Vilken otur

ALMA (Душа)

ALMA (Ziel)
