Tattoo Lyrics in English by Rauw Alejandro
Apoderaron comes from the reflexive verb apoderarse, which means to take possession, seize, or take control of something. It is a wonderfully dramatic word that adds intense emotion to any sentence.
In the song, Rauw Alejandro sings, "Tus ojos color café / Se apoderaron de mí" (Your brown eyes / Took control of me). He uses this powerful verb to describe how completely captivated he is, creating a poetic image of being willingly overpowered by someone's gaze.
Puerto Rican singer Rauw Alejandro goes all in on the honeymoon phase of an intense crush with "Tattoo." He is completely obsessed with this girl's face, her brown eyes, and the ink on her skin. From the very first hook, he hits you with raw flirtation: "Estás pa' comerte toda todita" (You look good enough to eat all up) and "Te ves tan rica, esa carita y ese tattoo" (You look so good, that little face and that tattoo). He does not want to stay in the friend zone anymore, admitting "Muero por un beso de esos que no son de amigos" (I'm dying for a kiss that isn't from friends). For him, being around her keeps the good vibes high without needing anything else: "Haces que la nota nunca se baje" (You keep the high from ever coming down).
The track is full of fun Latin-urban slang you will hear everywhere in Reggaeton. When Rauw sings "Cuando cae la noche siempre me tira" (When night falls, she always hits me up), tirar literally means "to throw," but in modern slang, it means texting or calling someone. Then he adds "si la busco de una se activa" (if I pick her up, she gets hype immediately), showing she is always ready to party with him. He is totally hooked, even asking her to wake him up for a kiss before she leaves in the morning with lines like "Sólo tu boca es lo que desayuno" (Your mouth is all I have for breakfast). It is a smooth, flirtatious jam about wanting to be someone's absolute number one.
