Cuando Me Muera Te Olvido Lyrics in English by KAROL G
Bandido literally translates to "bandit" or "outlaw". It's a word with a rebellious and adventurous feel.
In the song, KAROL G uses this word poetically to call out her ex, singing, "Bandido de los sueños que aún no hemos cumplido" (Bandit of the dreams we have not yet fulfilled). She's accusing him of stealing the future they were supposed to have together, making it a powerful and memorable way to describe a heartbreaker.
Colombian superstar KAROL G leans into pure, messy post-breakup drama with a cumbia rhythm that keeps you moving while you nurse a broken heart. She admits she is about fifteen drinks deep ("van como quince" [it's been like fifteen]) and still completely failing to forget her ex. Even songs that have nothing to do with him hurt to listen to right now. She knows counting the time is getting ridiculous when she sings, "Siete días han pasado ya / Y yo llevo ocho queriendo estar contigo" [Seven days have passed already / And I've spent eight wanting to be with you]. It is an honest, funny exaggeration that anyone who has ever stared at their phone waiting for a text will instantly understand.
Instead of acting like the relationship was a mistake, she looks back at their chemistry without regrets. She even calls him a "Bandido de los sueños que aún no hemos cumplido" [Bandit of the dreams we haven't fulfilled yet]. He might act tough, but she tells him, "Tú matas por mí, baby, no te hagas" [You'd kill for me, baby, don't pretend]. In Spanish slang, "no te hagas" means "don't play dumb" or "stop faking it." Ultimately, she lets him go if he insists on leaving, but she drops the most stubborn punchline of the track: "Que cuando me muera te olvido" [Only when I die will I forget you]. She is not even trying to move on today.
